Some of the manuscripts taken up for publication are
represented by single copies in the Library and consequently
the mistakes that are found in them could not be corrected
by collating them with other copies. The editor has, however,
tried his best to suggest correct readings. The wrong
readings are given in round brackets. When different readings
are found, they have been given in the foot-notes except in the
case of a few Stotras in which the correct readings have been
given in the foot-note or incorporated in the text itself in
square brackets.

The Government of India and the Goverment of Madras
have to be thanked for financing the entire scheme of publi-
cation although there is a drive for economy in all the depart-
ments. My thanks are due to the Members of the Expert
Committee and the Editorial Committee, who spared no pains
in selecting the manuscripts for publication. I have also to
thank Sri N. S. Ramanujam and Sri M. Sarabhesvara Sarma
former pandits of this library and Sri M. S. Vaidyanathan,
Sri T, H. Visvanathan, Sri M. P. Mukundan, Sri T. A. K.
Venkatachari and Sri N. Ramanujam, Pandits of this library
and Sri A. M. Srinivasachary, for their help in the preparation
of the press copy and collation of the manuscripts. The
Madras Law Journal Press, that has co-operated in printing
the Stotras in the best manner possible, also deserves my thanks
for the patience exhibited in carrying out the corrections made
in the proofs.

It is hoped that the Government of India will be conti-
nuing their financial grant to this library year after year for
undertaking the printing of other manuscripts.
