<p text="C" n="2">जय हो महिषासुर मर्दिनी । जय हो रमणीय केशपाश से

शोभायमान शैलपुत्री ! तुम देवताओं पर वरों की वर्षा करती हो ।

प्रथम तुम ने महिषासुर के सेनानी दुर्धर को पछाडा, दुर्मुख को गिराया

। इस प्रथम विजय से ही हर्षित हो गयी । असुर संहार से त्रिभुवन

का पोषण करने के लिये संन्नद्ध हो गयी । हे माता ! तुम सदा

शंकर को प्रसन्न रखती हो, भक्तों के पापों को धो डालती हो । दानवों

का संहार दैत्यो का विनाश एवं मदान्ध दुष्टों का सफाया करती हो ।

हे जगदम्बा तुम वेदधोष में तन्मय हो जाती हो ॥२॥

molests demon Durdhara, destroys demon

Durmukha, is gladdened by the joy (of herself

and others), nourishes the three worlds,

satisfies Sankara, removes the guilt (of

devotees), is delighted in the war-cries,

causes harm to the Danavas, gets angry with the

sons of Diti (i.e. Demons), causes affliction

to the arrogant, Oh daughter of the ocean (as

Lakshmi) who has crushed the demon, Mahisha,
